Automotive Engineering Laboratory Opening Ceremory

The opening ceremony of what is now the best engineering automotive laboratory nationwide is taking place on March, 23rd, headed by the Minister of the Environment, João Pedro Matos Fernandes.
Located at School of Technology and Management the lab occupies a surface area of 1200 m2, fully equipped for teaching and research activities and built to support the growth and success of this pioneering educational field. The newly renovated and extended laboratory facilities provide the fundamental knowledge base for the areas of Automotive Mechanical Technology as well as for Electronics Automotive Technology, motivating students to be at the top of this field. “The space will have larger capacity to respond to external collaboration requests with entities associated with the automotive sector, as well as the creation of conditions for carrying out trials and tests, a necessary part of the development of research projects” explains João Fonseca Pereira, head of the Laboratory for Automotive Engineering at ESTG.
Expertly trained professional are on high demand and students of this course can expect high employability rates as the number of graduates is not enough to fill all the application request sent by automotive companies, justifying beyond the need, the investment in Automotive Engineering Laboratory.

The Sodicentro (Mercedes) and Vimoter / Movicortes (Leiria Porsche center) are examples of regional companies that have in its personnel graduates in Automotive Engineering of the School of Technology and Management of the Polytechnic of Leiria. The Skoda Motorsport of Czech Republic, Aston Martin in UK, Lamborghini in Italy or Continental in Germany, are some of the brands that also  recruit young graduates of this area recognizing the quality of IPLeiria training.

As the result of the international recognition of training in Automotive Engineering Polytechnic of Leiria established a partnership with the University of Oxford Brooks (recognized worldwide as one of the most renowned institutions in the automobile competition) to exchange students and teachers and to create a joint post-graduation in Motorsport.
