Baber Mirza

It’s always a pleasure to assist one of our international students to complete a master degree. Baber Mirza, from Pakistan, is our first Pakistani student to complete a master degree. When asked why has he decided to choose Polytechnic of Leiria, Baber told us that he was focusing on studying International Business in Europe ” when I came across IPLeiria’s Master program and I liked the overall outlook of the curriculum of International Business program”. Besides, the affordable tuition fee for International students had also contributed to his decision to study in Portugal.

Polytechnic of Leiria continues to dedicate special efforts to internationalization and is quite satisfying to testimony the happiness of our students “I very much enjoyed doing all the university projects and loved all the lectures of my Professors” Baber says. Professors are indeed one of the most important pieces in the study abroad experience and in Baber Mirza case this was no different “due to the late arrival of my visa I began my classes at the end of November and I had to cover my semester curriculum in one and a half month. I managed to complete the entire curriculum in a short span of time, through the support of professors, who were very helpful and always gave me extra classes so that I may be able to cover my curriculum in time”.

The benefits of studying abroad are well know: open arms to other culture, learn a new language and try to overcome fears and expectations. After all, is breaking out the comfort zone. For Baber the extra advantage came also through a chance to do an Erasmus entrepreneurship in Brussels in Bosch company: “IPLeiria Masters degree in “International Business” has equipped me with skills to succeed in a professional environment.

Study abroad is not meant only to broaden your horizons. Study abroad is the power tool to achieve self-acknowledgement. Like Baber says: “my growth was exponential”.
