Chinese Embassy in Portugal Recognises Students and Graduates from the Polytechnic University of Leiria
The Chinese Embassy in Portugal distinguished students and graduates from the Polytechnic University of Leiria during the award ceremony of the short video competition “My China Story”, held on 6 June. The Polytechnic University of Leiria participated as a partner in promoting the initiative.
This is another important activity promoted by the Chinese Embassy in Portugal, aimed at strengthening the dissemination of Chinese language and culture and bringing the Chinese and Portuguese peoples closer together through knowledge, sharing, and intercultural dialogue.
Within this framework, the Polytechnic University of Leiria once again collaborated in fostering cultural exchange between China and Portugal. This cooperation not only highlights the commitment and achievements of Chinese language students in Portugal but also encourages broader audiences to engage with the language and discover the richness of Chinese culture.
For the Polytechnic University of Leiria, participation in initiatives such as this is particularly meaningful, as it contributes to building stronger bridges between the two countries in the fields of language and cultural education, while also reinforcing institutional and diplomatic relations.
The Polytechnic University of Leiria was proud to support the promotion of this competition, through which ten of its students and graduates received awards in the categories recognising the best video productions.
The competition provided an important opportunity for Portuguese learners of Chinese to share their personal experiences, stories, and journeys related to learning the language and engaging with Chinese culture. At the same time, it showcased their dedication, progress, and achievements throughout that process.
Furthermore, the initiative plays a significant role in strengthening linguistic and cultural exchange between China and Portugal, contributing to deeper mutual understanding and enhancing the visibility and relevance of Chinese language education within Portuguese society.
Chinese Ambassador Awards Merit Scholarships
During the same ceremony, four students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Portuguese-Chinese / Chinese-Portuguese Translation and Interpretation, offered by the School of Education and Social Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Leiria, were awarded scholarships.
The Chinese Ambassador Scholarship 2026 recognises students for their academic excellence and their interest in promoting Sino-Portuguese relations. The initiative aims to foster cultural and linguistic exchange by encouraging Portuguese students to deepen their knowledge of the Chinese language, culture, and contemporary Chinese society.
