On October 16, the Polytechnic University of Leiria<\/strong> will celebrate RUN-EU Day<\/strong>, an annual event dedicated to promoting the Regional University Network \u2013 European University (RUN-EU)<\/strong><\/a>, an alliance co-led and co-founded by the institution. Through a series of activities, debates, and workshops, the day will bring together students, staff, and local communities from Leiria, Peniche, and Caldas da Rainha, celebrating the alliance\u2019s contribution to regional transformation and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The 2025 edition will focus on the theme \u201cEuropean Values<\/strong>\u201d, reflecting the core principles of the European Universities Initiative promoted by the European Commission<\/a>. RUN-EU Day will be celebrated simultaneously across all nine partner institutions in Europe, highlighting students as key agents of change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At the School of Health Sciences (ESSLei)<\/a><\/strong>, a workshop on \u201cCommunicating European Values in the Context of European Universities<\/strong>\u201d will explore best practices in communication within a democratic, diverse, and free European academic space. The session will feature experts from three European universities and national partners,<\/strong> namely Ana Vaz Ferreira (BAUHAUS4EU<\/a>\/Polit\u00e9cnico de Castelo Branco<\/a>), Anna Coutinho (FilmEU<\/a>\/Universidade Lus\u00f3fona<\/a>), Maria do Carmo Gomes (PIONEER<\/a>\/ISCTE<\/a>), and Jo\u00e3o dos Santos (RUN-EU<\/a>\/Polit\u00e9cnico de Leiria<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, the School of Arts and Design of Caldas da Rainha (ESAD.CR)<\/strong> will host the initiative \u201cRUN-EU for Everyone\u201d<\/strong>, taking place at the Auditorium of Pedagogical Building 1 (EP1) from 10:00 a.m. The event will include the presentations \u201cThe Voice of ESAD.CR Students in RUN-EU: The Importance of the Student Council in the First Person<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cStudents\u2019 Experience: Sharing RUN-EU in the First Person<\/strong>\u201d, delivered by students and lecturers of the School.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n The day will conclude with a public roundtable in Peniche, at the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology (ESTM)<\/a><\/strong>, on the topic \u201cDefending European Values Today<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Organized in collaboration with Europe Direct Oeste, Lez\u00edria e M\u00e9dio Tejo<\/strong><\/a>, the roundtable will be moderated by Susana Peralta, professor at Nova SBE<\/strong>, and will feature Ant\u00f3nio Silva Ribeiro, Admiral and Full Professor,<\/strong> and Lu\u00eds Loureiro de Amorim, Deputy Head of Mission at the Representation of the European Commission in Portugal.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/www.ipleiria.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/story-workshop-EESLEI-e1759999019771.png\")
