This research project aimed at the creation of a set of sand cleaning tools suitable for the various types of waste commonly located on the beach. Based on the concepts of activism and environmentalism, a strategy of action was developed for two different types of message, one suitable for children and the other for bathers. The relationship between production and consumption systems, which cause the widespread pollution found on beaches, was highlighted. This strategy resulted in ideological objects that seek to cross the symbolic charge of the environmental cause with the meanings of the materials and manufacturing processes used in these tools. The projects carried out use handcraft and semi-industrial production techniques and were carried out with the support of specialised manufacturers.
