Territories of curating

In this Open Class, João Silvério reflects on his coexistent experience as a curator in two different territories, a more independent context, and a more institutional one. How does one move between these two territories? What methods, strategies and freedoms are in place in each one of them? 
Bio: João Silvério, is a curator and art critic, he has made his studies in Painting and Philosophy and has a Master’s in Curatorial Studies from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon / Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. He was curator of the contemporary art collection of the Luso-American Foundation for Development; vice-president and interim president of the Portuguese Section of AICA. In 2007, he created the EMPTY CUBE project, which has presented projects by artists, designers and architects.
