Design in the ceramics industry – Talk about design

A talk with designer Francisco Vieira Martins about his professional career at Bordallo Pinheiro, such an emblematic brand in the Portuguese ceramics scene, the legacy of its founder Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro. This session will present the characteristics of his methodological and procedural approach, as well as the notoriety of the products he has developed. Emphasising the creative process, the importance of inputs and outputs, the holistic vision applied in the development of new products and the interactions with the other players in the brand. General objectives: Support the development of individual projects in the scope of Final Project and Integrated Project in Company Pedagogical objectives: Identification and analysis of the following aspects: -Concepts -Project practices vs Materials vs Production methods -Products/Works BIO Francisco Vieira Martins, Obtained his degree in Industrial Design at ESAD in Caldas da Rainha. Since 2001 he develops his professional activity as product designer in the areas of Ceramics and Glass. He started his career in Crystal and then moved to Ceramics. Since 2012 he is senior designer in Vista Alegre group, being allocated to Bordallo Pinheiro.
