Ilan Katin, Entter, Jasmin Waschl, Nicolas Joos, Catarina Lente
TALK
MAY 31ST OF 2024, 3.30PM
ROOM 9 EP1 – ESAD.CR
Words like Crypto Art, Blockchain, Smart Contracts, NFTs, Tezos, Ethereum or Bitcoin, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative Art, Web3, and Metaverse are increasingly present in various contexts today. The diversity of opinions on these topics reflects the complexity of the moment. Surprising, captivating, frightening, confusing, uninteresting, or indifferent, we all feel seemingly obliged to take a definitive stance on a subject where there are few certainties, primarily because it is still in the phase of definition and construction. The potential value of creativity, the role of artists and designers, the commercialization of artworks from digital formats, royalties and copyrights, as well as the crucial and catalytic role of the collector/gallerist, are some of the topics we intend to address at this meeting, considering it as a new window of opportunities and not as a replacement or annulment of what already exists.
The proposal is to gather in a roundtable to explain the main concepts of the Crypto Art universe, the individual journey that led them to this space, and their opinions on what they consider to be the positive and negative aspects.
To do this, moderated by Designer Catarina Lente, a former student of ESAD CR (PT) (ExOrbita), Visual Artist/Designer Entter (ES), Fousion Gallery Owner Jasmin Waschl (ES), Crypto Art pioneer Ilan Katin (USA), and Artist/Designer Nicolas Joos (ExOrbita) (CH).
