Carla Rebelo, artist and teacher, holds a degree in Fine Arts – Sculpture from FBAUL (2000), with specializations in Textiles, Set Design, and Drawing. She received a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship in 2010/11. Memory, time, and perception are key words in the development of her visual and conceptual research. The artist explores a metaphorical and poetic approach with connections to literature, history, mythology, travel, and personal stories.
Carla Rebelo holds a degree in Fine Arts – Sculpture from FBAUL (2000). She also trained in Textiles, Set Design, and Drawing. She received a Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship in 2010/11. She participated in artistic residencies in Portugal and also in Russia (2013); Madrid (2012), Berlin (2011), and Istanbul (2010) as part of the project Journey into the Interior of Lived Cities.
She has exhibited collectively since 1999. Her solo exhibitions include: Geology of a Place, Galeria da Casa A. Molder, Lisbon (2022); According to Her Own Time, Galeria Diferença, Lisbon (2020); A Moment That Repeats Itself Continually, Galeria Águas Livres 8, Lisbon (2018); Private Landscapes, Galeria Diferença, Lisbon (2018); A Pentagon, a Circle, Eight Books, São Lázaro Library, Lisbon (2017); Watermark, Money Museum, Lisbon (2017); Becoming Water, Marquês de Pombal Palace, Oeiras (2016); Fate followed our trail like a madman with a razor in his hand, Nogueira da Silva Museum, Braga (2015); An almost imperceptible movement that has to do with flight, Monumental Gallery, Lisbon (2014).
She is represented in public and private collections, including: Artist’s Book Collection of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Art Library; Contemporary Art Center, Málaga; Luciano Benetton Imago Mundi Collection; Kronstadt History Museum, Saint Petersburg, Russia; Polish Art Foundation, Melbourne, Australia; MG Collection; Figueiredo Ribeiro Collection; State Contemporary Art Collection.
