Fundações II is a collective exhibition and magazine that presents the creative journey of second-year students from the MA in Product Design at ESAD.CR, reflecting on the notion of foundations as the bases upon which ideas, techniques and materials are built. This exhibition and publication bring together diverse projects which, through innovative approaches and in-depth research, establish the groundwork for a transformative and dialogical design practice.
Each work, developed during the first year and the beginning of the second year of studies, represents a path of experimentation and reflection, where objects, models and processes are created to challenge norms and inspire new possibilities in design.
Alongside the physical pieces, the exhibition features videos that contextualise the concepts and aims of each project. The magazine includes essays and reviews engaging with key authors, as well as analyses of reference projects selected by each student. Together, they offer a broader and more detailed perspective on the processes and ideas that have shaped each student’s final master’s project proposal.
Fundações II celebrates design as a field that builds bridges between the functional and the creative, between the technical and the human, fostering meaningful and sustainable dialogues.
