The “Canal 00” exhibition is a tribute to the history of pirate television, which reached its peak in Portugal during the 1980s and 1990s. For many of us, it is inconceivable that someone once lived in a time when only two channels existed; however, this reality is not so distant.
The inertia of the era led some adventurers to create their own alternatives and share them with the world in secrecy.
Second-year students of the Digital Media Design TESP program were challenged to create their own interpretation of a clandestine broadcaster, pushing even further the level of exaggeration and absurdity that defined this “television wild west” era.
