For many years Margarida Paiva’s work was related to stories of trauma and memory. These stories emerge in poetic narratives defined by an existential solitude. Recent work is the result of a personal exploration into the mystical and spiritual dimension of the natural world, inspired by folklore, old fairy tales and myths where Nature is associated with psychological states and the subconscious. Using references to ecofeminism, these projects aim to reflect on the coexistence between human existence and the environment.
Margarida Paiva is a visual artist living in Oslo working with film and photography. In 2007, Paiva completed her Master degree at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (NO), and has earlier studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Porto (PT).
