Joana Ascensão has been a Programmer at the Portuguese Cinematheque – Museum of Cinema since 2009. She has organized retrospectives of Chris Marker, Michael Snow, Stan Brakhage, Ernie Gehr, S. Paradjanov and “Cinema and Photography”, Marguerite Duras, among others, and more recently the program “Portuguese Experimental Cinema: The Cinema of the Artists, 1960s and 70s”. She directed the film Pintura Habitada (Best Portuguese Feature Film, Doclisboa 2006).
