Open lecture with Alexandre Estrela (b. 1971), visual artist and professor, and Ana Baliza (b. 1985), designer and curator, based on their joint work at farO, a physical and mental space located in a “theater that parasitizes the exterior walls of a church” in Lisbon. Built upon the legacy of Oporto\u2014a non-profit project directed by Alexandre Estrela between 2007 and 2020\u2014farO’s program is based on the selection and exhibition of audiovisual works and artists defined by notions of resistance and eccentricity.
Following the open lecture, there will be a visit to the studio and mentoring for final-year students in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

User\/citizen\/patient involvement, their respective caregivers and family members in health care is emerging on policy agendas in many countries.The expectation is that this involvement will generate better health and quality of life for patients, will engage patients and families and improve the quality of health services. Thus, it becomes necessary to establish a paradigm shift with respect to the basic principles of autonomy and democracy. It is understood as a human right that users of the health system fully understand care technologies, their implications, and risks, including in emerging digital health services that involve the use of artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain. However, the healthcare system has been slow to engage and empower its users on digital health literacy. In this proposal, a methodology will be presented to increase user involvement in the design of future health care and services – the use of Participatory Design (PD). From this perspective of PD, health professionals in a hospital environment and in Primary Care assume a leading role, which will be demonstrated with the unique experience of a public hospital in southern Denmark in the treatment and follow-up of people with an insidious and emerging chronic disease, that has become a global health problem: diabetes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Introduction to the history of Cinema with a particular focus on its prehistory (in the origins of photography, in the scientific study of movement, in its Vaudeville origins and its first public sessions) and the development of its language (through George M\u00e9li\u00e8s’s games, the birth of animation, the Brighton School experiments, the discovery of the Kuleshov effect and the development of Griffith’s methods of montage). This return to film’s origins is proposed as a “key” to the history of film (including its many later developments) and the class will hopefully also serve to correct various popular mistakes on the subject.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Japanese Woodblock Printmaking – MokuHanga Woodblock printing in Japan (Mokuhanga) is a technique best known for its use in the loose-leaf ukiyo-e art genre.
Mokuhanga or traditional Japanese woodcut is particularly attractive thanks to the use of non-toxic water-based inks, as well as the absence of the need for a printing press.
Taking a print from the inked block utilises the baren, a small, flat, disc-shaped tool that is rubbed over the back of the paper in a zigzag pattern while applying pressure with the heel of your hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lecture and studio critic sessions with the students of LAP (3rd year). In\u00eas Ferreira-Norman was a cultural producer and artist manager in the United Kingdom until 2018, when she returned to Portugal to dedicate herself to her practice and artistic thinking. Master of Fine Arts and Artist’s Books from the University of the Arts London (Camberwell and Wimbledon College of Art), she resumed her artistic practice in 2015 to develop and publish work on geological phenomenologies, sociopolitical commentary and more recently performative explorations of how science and spirituality intersect, creating new myths and universes. She is interested in ecological and cosmic thinking, and how art is a form of freedom of expression and production of transdisciplinary knowledge. She was editor-in-chief of the Journal of Arts Writing by Students published by Intellect between 2019 and 2023, and has been training and involved in editorial projects since 2009. She taught English in London between 2014-18 and has been writing in Portuguese for ArteCapital since 2019. Certified permaculturist, she has managed environmental and community projects with a focus on the circular economy and the arts, working in the communities of Peniche and \u00d3bidos, and now in S\u00e3o Pedro do Sul.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

“Livros de Fotografia em Portugal: Da Revolu\u00e7\u00e3o ao Presente” proposes to immerse the reader in the fertile history of the Portuguese photography book from the 1970s onwards. It chooses the photobook as an object of study as it is a vehicle for artistic and documentary creation, and point of convergence for collaboration between photographers, designers, writers and publishers. Divided into seven thematic chapters, it analyzes the production of books during the Revolution, the relationship between photographic image and text, the archival and institutional dimension of the photography book, the material and performative qualities of this editorial and artistic practice, as well as the idea of territory and identity. Offering a comprehensive contextualization of the selected books, it encompasses historical, political, artistic and social aspects, with the aim of contributing to an innovative reading of the history of photography in Portugal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

A Man and a Woman calmly play Jenga in their home. When a game piece falls, the characters are transported inside their own heads and begin to reflect on the world in which they live. They become aware of the world in which they live and transport the public on an immersive and ‘revolutionary’ journey.
