This lecture will focus on writing and photography as both inseparable and contrasting practices and concepts in the work and thought of Herv\u00e9 Guibert. The Ghost Image<\/em> (L’Image fant\u00f4me<\/em>, 1981) \u2014 a hypothetical response to Roland Barthes\u2019 Camera Lucida<\/em> (La chambre claire<\/em>, 1980), an essential work of photographic theory and visual studies \u2014 will be taken as an angle from which to analyze Guibert’s thinking and interartistic work in the fields of fictional and autobiographical writing, photography and cinema.
