ANT\u00d3NIO J\u00daLIO DUARTE (Lisbon, 1965) lives and works in Lisbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his words: \u201cI photograph busy cities and troubled people, trapped creatures and unlikely things. They are my map of the world. I am attracted to them, moved by the sympathy and restlessness we share. I get to know these restless beings in their trivial tasks and daily dispositions, I sense in them and try to capture the vital tension that is the universal desire for life and meaning.\u201d
His work has been exhibited regularly, in Portugal and abroad, since 1990, providing one of the most unique and consistent voices in the understanding of photography today.The following solo exhibitions stand out: Guin\u00e9-Bissau 1990 (Galeria Bruno Murias, Lisbon, 2023), FEBRE (Museu de Arte Contempor\u00e2nea \u2013 Funda\u00e7\u00e3o de Serralves, Porto, 2023), CREATURE (O Arm\u00e1rio, Lisbon, 2021), Eclipse (Galeria Bruno M\u00farias, Lisbon, 2020), White Noise (Quartel da Arte Contempor\u00e2nea de Abrantes, Cole\u00e7\u00e3o Figueiredo Ribeiro, Abrantes, 2017), Am\u00e9rica (Galeria Pedro Alfacinha, Lisbon, 2017), Suspension of Disbelief (CAV, Coimbra, 2016), Merc\u00fario (Galeria Z\u00e9 dos Bois, Lisbon, 2015) and Jap\u00e3o 1997 (Centro Cultural Vila Flor, Guimar\u00e3es, 2013). He is the author of several books, among others: Guinea-Bissau 1990 (2023), Against the Day (2019), Japan Drug (2014), Deviation of the Sun (2013) and White Noise (2011), published by Pierre von Kleist Editions .
