Colloquium celebrating 20 years of the UNESCO CONVENTION ON THE PROTECTION AND PROMOTION OF THE DIVERSITY OF CULTURAL EXPRESSIONS 2005\/2025<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Polytechnic University of Leiria, through its UNESCO Chair in Arts and Culture Management, Cities and Creativity, LiDA \u2013 Laboratory for Research in Art and Design and the Master\u2019s Degree in Cultural Management at the School of Arts and Design, together with the UNESCO National Commission and GEPAC – Office for Cultural Strategy, Planning and Evaluation, are organising, in partnership with the Caldas da Rainha City Council, the Impulso Festival and the National Arts Plan, an international colloquium celebrating the 20th anniversary of the CONVENTION ON THE PROTECTION AND PROMOTION OF THE DIVERSITY OF CULTURAL EXPRESSIONS, which will take place at the Caldas da Rainha School of Art and Design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The colloquium’s programme features numerous participants and formats, concerts and performances, presentations of projects, talks with artists and academics, dancing and djing, and is based on several of the convention’s themes, namely \u2018Cultural expression and diversity as human rights\u2019, \u2018Education for diversity\u2019, \u2018Culture for social cohesion\u2019, \u2018Originality and plurality of identities\u2019, \u201cFree circulation of ideas, images and words\u201d, \u201cCulture as a tool for democracy, tolerance, social justice, peace and security\u201d, \u2018Freedom of thought, expression and information\u2019, \u201cLinguistic diversity\u201d, \u201cCulture as a tool for democracy, tolerance, social justice, peace and security\u201d, \u201cEndangered cultural expressions\u201d, \u201cTraditional wisdom and knowledge systems of indigenous peoples\u201d, \u201cSustainable development of communities, peoples and nations\u201d, \u201cThe status of women in society\u201d and \u201cIntellectual property rights\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
