ARMAZ\u00c9M DAS ARTES – ALCOBA\u00c7A<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Dossier da Mata (…) shows photographs and text which reflect distinct ways of seeing on Vimeiro National Forest, produced by around 15 students. All the personal views shared the same starting point, which was the research carried out by Professor Joaquim Vieira Natividade -Researcher and then aspiring Forestry Engineer- in this forest between 1929 and the early 1950s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the small group of photographs presented by each student reveals the subjectivity of his.her poetic response to the contemporary forest, the whole set of photographs, as well as the collaborative text, constitute a collective and contemporary testimony to the botanical diversity, the aesthetic appeal of the grove and, to a certain extent, the history of this forest. A forest of which Natividade was photographer, narrator, planner and carer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pieces – photography and text \u2013 were selected from the responses worked on for the exercises in UC Laborat\u00f3rio de Cria\u00e7\u00e3o I: fotografia -1\u00ba ano MASI.
The fieldwork trips to Mata do Vimeiro, during the classes, were funded by Armaz\u00e9m das Artes \/ Alcoba\u00e7a City Council. This exhibition is related with a research project on photography and drawing in the work of J.V. Natividade (still in preparation for LiDA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
