The regulatory measures here established intend to minimize the problems arising from the pandemic situation created by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes COVID-19. Thus, we request the understanding and cooperation of everyone who uses ESTG facilities in complying with these measures, as well as adopting a responsible behaviour, hygiene practices, respiratory etiquette and social distancing, which are highly recommended by the competent authorities. These measures are available at https://www.ipleiria.pt/estg/activities-at-estg-academic-year-2021-2022/, and shall be continuously monitored. Any necessary change shall be promptly communicated.


Whenever there is suspicion of a COVID-19 case in our community, the Student/Employee should contact the SNS 24 (808 24 24 24) and remain at home. If you are on campus, you must go to a security post to be taken to the isolation area, where you can contact the SNS 24 (808 24 24 24).


These measures are valid and must be applied and complied with in every building of ESTG.

Rules to access and use the facilities

General rules

  1. The use of mask is mandatory on campus in all closed spaces, as well as in open spaces whenever a distance of 2 meters between people cannot be guaranteed;
  2. Hand hygiene must be carried out both when entering and exiting buildings, classrooms and laboratories, using the hand sanitiser dispensers in these spaces;
  3. Entrance and exit circuits and circulation in buildings must be fully respected, in order to minimize the concentration and gathering of people. Circulation must always be made on the right;
  4. People shall stay in the common areas of the buildings for the minimum duration required for the intended action. After the classes and during breaks, people must go out quickly and orderly to the street;
  5. When entering the classroom, students should start by occupying the seats which are more distant from the door to the places closest to it. The exit must be done in reverse order, i.e., from the place closest to the door to the farthest;
  6. The professor must organize the teaching space (classroom/laboratory), in order to promote the greatest possible distance between students;
  7. Whenever possible, students must occupy seats that are not marked with a red sticker with the indication “Não usar – Don’t use” or a similar identification;
  8. Spaces should be ventilated, keeping doors and windows open whenever possible;
  9. It is essential that break times are scrupulously respected, so that spaces can be properly and equally ventilated between classes;
  10. When eating, the use of hallways and halls should be avoided;
  11. The use of the elevator should be avoided; when necessary, it can only be used by one person at a time;
  12. Whenever a situation of potential risk to community health is identified, it should be reported to the nearest security guard or to the person in charge of the campus (+351 969 103 397).

Common spaces

  1. Access to common spaces is made only for circulation and access to specific spaces, and is conditioned and reduced to the essential minimum;
  2. The minimum safety distance must always be maintained and respected;
  3. The defined circuits for circulation in the buildings must be respected;
  4. You must always circulate on the right side;
  5. The vending machines can only be used by one person at a time, and the user must clean it before using it, with a sprayer available on site;
  6. The entire academic community must contribute to the cleaning of common equipment, using the available equipment and consumables.

Access to spaces by students

Classrooms

Students can access classrooms when they have scheduled academic activities in that space.

Laboratories (when their use is not for classes)

Access to laboratories outside class hours to carry out academic and research tasks is conditioned to the maximum capacity of the space, which is duly posted at the entrance. In addition, it requires authorization from the School Direction, according to the assessment carried out by the professors in charge of the laboratory, the main professors of the curricular unit, the Course Coordination and the Head of Department, following the procedure below.

  1. Students
    • Sends the request to the professor who lectures the curricular unit, as soon as possible. Answers to any request sent with less than a 48 hours’ notice are not guaranteed.
  2. Professor
    • Analyses the request (if necessary, in articulation with the main professor of the curricular unit, the Course Coordinator and the Head of Department);
    • Forwards the request to the professor in charge of the laboratory.
  3. Professor in charge of the laboratory
    • Analyses the request in articulation with the Course Coordinator and the Head of Department;
    • Prepares the list with the name of the students who can use of laboratory in which period;
    • Forwards the request to the School Direction (estg@ipleiria.pt), with the abovementioned list, and any additional information considered relevant.
  4. School Direction
    • Decides and communicates its decision to all those involved in the request.
Study rooms

At the beginning of the academic year, and until further notice, study rooms will not be available at ESTG. We suggest that students use the spaces in the José Saramago Library for this purpose, always complying with the rules of that space.

Access to spaces by employees
  1. ESTG employees may access the School’s spaces to carry out their work activities. However, access may be conditioned to the number of people present in the space they wish to access;
  2. Office workstations must be configured in such a way that none of their occupants are seated face-to-face, in a direct line, or at less than 2 meters from each other. In cases where this may occur, tables must be mismatched or placed so that the occupants of the office do not face each other.

  1. Usual access for carrying out their functions;
  2. Mandatory use of mask and compliance with other rules for access and permanence in ESTG spaces.

Personal Protective Equipment

  1. The School will continue to provide some Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to its academic community, namely social masks and, in cases already identified, gloves. Social masks can be picked up at GEAP (door to the right of the Academic Services);
  2. PPE is for individual use only, and cannot be shared;
  3. In the practice-laboratory component of the curricular units where any material/equipment is shared, in addition to the obligation to use a mask and, where applicable, gloves, students must also wear a gown and a face visor. The student is responsible for purchasing gowns and face visors;
  4. Gowns should never be left at the school and should be washed frequently. There will be no gown borrowing. In cases where the use of gown is mandatory, the presence of students who do not have the gown properly washed and sanitized will not be allowed.

Cleaning and sanitation

  1. Specific sanitation equipment is available at:
    • Buildings’ entrances;
    • Laboratories with authorized access;
    • Vending machines.
  2. The spaces shall be frequently cleaned and sanitized, according to the daily cleaning schedule.
  3. Specific equipment for shared use shall be frequently cleaned and sanitized, according to the specific cleaning schedule.
  4. Keyboards and printer handling surfaces are protected with a protective film, and must be sanitized before and after each use by the user. The films shall be replaced whenever they show damage.
  5. All teaching spaces have a cleaning product for surfaces, which can be used whenever people feel the need to sanitize the workstations. All classrooms and laboratories are equipped with a hand sanitiser dispenser for hand hygiene.
