Marta Silva – i3S

«Marta Alves da Silva, PhD, is currently a Junior Researcher at i3S,University of Porto, working in the REMODEL project. She is an experienced researcher in Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine, with over 9 years of academic experience. Her scientific background includes i) degree in Applied Biology from the University of Minho; ii) a Master in Molecular Genetics; iii) a PhD in Tissue Engineering, Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cells, iv) a post-doctorate in Cartilage Tissue Engineering, studying cartilage regeneration using stem cells and co-cultures. From April 2018 to October 2018, she performed a short post-doctorate focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms in Tau protein related pathologies, such as Alzheimer’s disease, granted by the Jerome Lejeune Foundation. During this short-term training, she has consolidated her skills in laboratory animal sciences (F.E.L.A.S.A. category C certified person since 2008), namely on mice colonies management and stress-inducing protocols for behavior analysis.

Marta Alves da Silva published 8 papers as first author, in a total of 18 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals. Her h-index is of 10 and she has a total of 531 citations (as of November 2019) and over 50 international conferences communications (oral and posters). She is also the author of 2 invited book chapters and co-author of 1 other published in international books with ISBN. Marta Alves da Silva is co-inventor of 1 granted European Patent application (EP 2878314 B1) and was also involved in other relevant scientific activities: (a) team member in 5 Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT) and 2 European funded projects; (b) organizing committee member of 3 international scientific events; (c) invited reviewer of 16 international scientific journals; (d) invited reviewer of Life Sciences and Biomaterials projects under the Italian Bando PRIN 2017 Program call (Ministero dell’Istruzione dell’Università e della Ricerca).»
