SUMMER COURSE ON HERITAGE AND CREATIVITY – (Full Programme)

July 8 – 21, 2018

The  Summer Course on Heritage and Creativity is a two-week exchange course aiming at the study of Portugal’s Heritage and Creativity issues from different scopes: natural, historical, gastronomical and cultural heritage, creativity applied to heritage teaching and learning and Heritage and Creative Industries. This Heritage and Creativity exchange program is designed for Teachers, Students, and Professionals from all over the world. English is the working language.
This extended program is organised by the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology, ESTM, which is part of the IPLeiria, Institute Polytechnic of Leiria, Portugal.
The Polytechnic Institute of Leiria is a public higher education institution, in the service of society, intending to produce and diffuse knowledge, create, transmit and diffuse culture, science, technology and arts, guided research and experimental development. It participates in society-related activities, namely the diffusion and transfer of knowledge, as well as the economic valuation of scientific knowledge.
The academic community of IPLeiria integrates around 11,000 students, 900 teachers and 300 technical and administrative staff, distributed throughout five higher education schools. The School of Tourism and Maritime Technology, located in Peniche, is one of them, with 1,500 students, 120 teachers and a beautiful oceanic landscape.

Goals and objectives

  • to build up students’ knowledge and experience on the relationship between heritage, tourism and creativity in eastern Portugal.
  • to educate students about the importance of maritime and natural resources and its relationship with sustainability in tourism development.
  • to develop students’ interpersonal skills and team spirit through international exchange activities.

Who can apply

Participants must be current registered full-time undergraduate students of higher education institutions, regardless of country and region, with a good command of the English language.

Certificate

Participants will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance upon successful completion of the programme.

Programme fee

(to be settled online by Visa / MasterCard)

Full Programme –  EUR1,950 per student

The above fee covers the following during the programme dates:

1.    Instructor and coordination services;

2.    Twin-sharing bedroom accommodation in a hotel, with daily breakfast (for 12 nights; check-in on 09 July, check-out on 21 July);

3.    Group transfer from Lisbon Portela Airport to the hotel on 09 July (at times specified in agenda);

4.    Group transfer from the hotel to Lisbon Portela Airport on 21 July (time to be confirmed);

5.    Group transportation per stated in the agenda;

6.    Lunches and dinners per stated in the agenda;

7.    All organised visits and group activities.

Other self-arrangements

The following items are not covered by the programme fee, and are subject to individual self-arrangements:

  • Travelling to and from the destination city;
  • Travel insurance policy with full coverage in the destination country throughout the programme and travel periods;
  • Entry visa (tourist visa), if necessary;
  • Meals not stated in the agenda;
  • Miscellaneous individual expenses.
