If you are an international student fascinated by nature, science, tourism and sustainable development, let me introduce to Berlengas Archipelago and ESTM-School of Tourism and Maritime Technology.
The Berlengas Biosphere Reserve includes a group of small islands and rocks, and the city of Peniche on the mainland where the School of Tourism and Maritime Technology of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria is located. One hour by car from Lisbon to the North, ESTM is a privileged place to study with Berlengas’ natural marine reserve as landscape, sandy beaches and many diving and surf spots in the vicinity.
This is a unique scenario to study and ESTM among other partners has recently published a set of communication content about the natural heritage of the Berlengas Archipelago territory of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Under the slogan “Knowing to preserve, knowing to enjoy” the project aims to raise environmental education and awareness stimulating appropriate behaviours towards such an outstanding natural value.
