In and Around is a space for sharing and discussing ideas, experiences and thoughts related to design, ceramics, glass, art, culture, ecology, technology and other topics of interest, with the aim of supporting the development of individual projects within the scope of the Final Project UC of the degree course in Product Design – Ceramics and Glass.

The case AfroWema
Created by Tatiana Teixeira, AfroWema is an ethical and sustainable fashion brand born in Kibera (Kenya), the largest slum in Africa. The brand uses local materials and traditional manufacturing techniques, helping to empower artisans in the community and create new jobs.

Tatiana Teixeira is a biology graduate with experience in various areas of biology and marketing, who realized early on that a multidisciplinary analysis of the world combined with an ability to communicate for development would lead to more sustainable conservation and development of the planet. With a degree in Biology (Faculty of Sciences – University of Porto) and a Master’s degree in Biology and Management of Marine Resources (Institute of Oceanography, Faculty of Sciences – University of Lisbon), she has participated in various research activities, and recently completed an executive program in Circular Economy and Sustainable Strategies at the University of Cambrige.
