For the first time in the history of the institution, 3 student-athlete from the Polytechnic of Leiria are part of the Portuguese Mission to compete at the 30th edition of the Summer Universiade, taking place in Naples, Italy, from July 3 to 14.
Under the guidance of former marathon runner Susana Feitor, 72 student athletes in 10 modalities represent Portugal: athletics (13), female basketball (12), male volleyball (12), taekwondo (8), swimming (8), judo (6), fencing (5), tennis (4), artistic gymnastics (3) and rhythmic gymnastics (1).
We are incredibly proud of the participation of our students in such important competition. Her names:
Evelise Veiga ( Management Bachelor | School of Technology and Management): long jump and triple jump
Joana Ferreira ( Physiotherapy Bachelor | School of Health Sciences): 5,000m plans
Joana Pontes ( Physiotherapy Bachelor | School of Health Sciences): 20,000km march

Sports at Polytechnic of Leiria
The Polytechnic of Leiria encourage and support the practice of sports among their students offering more than 30 modalities. Every year, Polytechnic of Leiria distinguishes its student-athletes in the Sports Gala, awarding the best of the best.
In the last years, Polytechnic of Leiria has improve their sports results and participating, achieving the high level of the main institutions of higher education in Portugal. In the sports history of Polytechnic of Leiria, we count more than 60 national university awards. It is also worth mentioning the participation in 12 European university championships, in representation of Portugal.
