Mental Health Seminars

Ubuntu

Ubuntu is an educational programme aimed at contributing to the development of socio-emotional skills, self-awareness techniques, and the definition of your academic path and goals.

The Ubuntu techniques will help you discover a new understanding of your sense and purpose in life—key elements for a successful academic journey.

Talking with…

These sessions invite the academic community to reflect on and discuss mental health topics and various transversal skills considered important for students’ journeys within the institution, their personal development, integration, and reducing dropout rates.

Stay tuned for our schedule.

Mental Health Seminars

It is through these seminars that the Student Support Center promotes mental health literacy among the student community of the Polytechnic University of Leiria. During these events, the Center not only presents its services to all first-year undergraduate classes, but also makes itself available to discuss topics chosen by the students.

Buddy International

This programme aims to support international students in their first contact with the country, the city and the institution. The Buddy International is a valuable help for students when they first arrive in an unfamiliar country. If you want to be part of this programme as a Buddy, you should speak Portuguese, of course, and another language from one of the EU countries and your mission will be to help the student settle in during their first weeks.

This integration involves a series of small but important tasks, such as showing them around the School, helping them find accommodation, introducing them to your circle of friends, among others.

You will find that your voluntary effort will be rewarding, as it is a mutual learning experience — you’ll get the opportunity to practise another language and maybe even make friends for life.

If you would like support from a Buddy: https://forms.office.com/e/AMpMU7HfP5

Selected students will receive an email with their Buddy’s contact details so they can get in touch.

The Student Support Center (a.k.a CAE) participates in this project by supporting the teams with training and mentorship sessions, where you can explore topics such as communication strategies, conflict management, the institution’s structure and operations, emotional management, and self-care.
