Support tailored for your needs
If you are part of the academic community at the Polytechnic University of Leiria and you need specific support, you have the opportunity to benefit from a range of resources that can assist you in your academic journey.
If you have, whether permanently or temporarily, one or more of the difficulties listed below, you are eligible to apply for Student Status with Special Educational Needs (a.k.a. ENEE) and benefit from learning support measures:
- Physical, visual, auditory or motor disability
- Dyslexia, dysorthography, dyscalculia
- Neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism spectrum difficulties or any other condition that hinders your learning and daily routines
- Physical or psychological illness that may prevent you from achieving your academic goals
After enrolling in one of the Polytechnic of Leiria’s Higher Education Schools, and if you have any specific needs resulting from a temporary or permanent health condition, please ask for our help.

Applying for the Student Status with Special Educational Needs
After enrolling in one of the Polytechnic University of Leiria’s Higher Education Schools and confirming that you have all the requirements set out in the Regulations, you can apply for the Student Status with Special Educational Needs (ENEE).
There are just three steps: ACCESS / ATTACH / SUBMIT

- ATTACH the supporting medical certificate
- SUBMIT your application

One of the Support Measures Tailored to You
Meet Your Case Manager
Now that you have been granted the Student Status with Special Educational Needs (ENEE), the Polytechnic University of Leiria has assembled a team of Case Managers — a group of professionals who will support you throughout your academic journey.
Among other things, your Case Manager will guide and facilitate your connection with the various services at the Polytechnic Unioversity of Leiria, with your course coordination team, assist you in analysing your needs and work with you to develop an intervention plan and identify suitable support measures. Please note, your Case Manager will not be involved in any pedagogical matters.

Buddy ENEE e Learning Credit Card
Buddy ENEE
This programme is provided by a group of volunteers—students from the Polytechnic University of Leiria—who will be available to be your Buddy.
Your Buddy, who may be a fellow student from your course, can play an important role in helping you with your day-to-day activities, taking into account your specific needs.
Credit Card – 40 hours of learning support
As a student with the ENEE Status, you have the option to benefit from a 40-Hour Learning Support Card for the curricular units of your choice. This support is provided by Professors and Case Managers from the Polytechnic University of Leiria.
