Viswesvar Sekar

Computer Engineering ESTG

Year of Completion:

“I will forever be Thankful – IPleiria”

I am Viswesvar Sekar, pursued Masters in Computer Engineering majored Mobile Computing at Polytechnic institute of Leiria (ESTG). It was a two year program from September 2016 to October 2017. It was a beautiful and important journey in my life. I got to communicate and reinforce my identity, my goals, and my aspirations. I got to talk about the journey.

Learning (Education) is a never ending process where I would say Portugal played a vital part in my life. After my Bachelor degree I was looking forward to do my masters in Europe, where I found that IPLeiria was my best choice. I’ve to say you why, the first reason is my course, which was structured in a way that the student will be trained to face any challenges in the market. The first year of study has 2 cycle with practical and theoretical assessments but the second year has its best advantage. For instance, the student has the option to do internship for 9 months to complete the course and of course I took internship. Many of tech companies were showed up during the time so that I could chose the one to do my internship. Yes, I’m glad to say that I was taken into one of the IT giants Pentaho Corporation, named Hitachi Vantara. I have learnt a lot and also it was a kick start to my career.

Leiria is a city with rich night life, easy accessible to all places within city. On the other hand I have not faced any language barrier since the city is filled with mixed culture and students.

It was a great surprise when I went to Paris, guess what?  Yes, I went to Eiffel tower and I had a huge discount for being an European student, also Louvre Museum gave free entry.

Secondly I love to do sports, again Politécnico de Leiria never miss anything that you like. I was in IPL sports club.

I would strongly say that people in Portugal are helpful and I’m thankful for that. I came to Portugal thinking “Portugal = Ronaldo/football”, but Portugal is lot more (Culture, people, nature beauty, weather, quality of life, etc). Now Portugal is my second home, because of what I’m today and will be in the future. Leiria owns a greatest part in it.

At this moment, I’m working as a Software Engineer in Soul Technologies, Lisbon.

Thank you for inviting me to alumni network. I believe the bond between myself and Politécnico de Leiria is strong, and count me in for any events.
