Programme Introduction

Considering the family as a unit of care, and that the Community Health Nursing Specialist Nurse in the area of Family Health Nursing, this Programme promotes its empowerment by focusing on the family as a whole and its individual members throughout the life cycle and their transitions; and Manages, articulates and mobilizes the resources necessary to provide family care, from the two specific competences of the Community Nursing Specialist Nurse, in the area of Family Health Nursing, the following learning objectives  merge:

  • Take care of the family as a care unit and of its members throughout the life cycle and at different levels of prevention;
  • Lead and collaborate in intervention processes within the scope of family health nursing.

  1. Develop a systemic view of family functioning by perceiving it as a process of transformative coevolution between systems and contexts;
  2. Understand the references and theoretical foundations of Family Nursing;
  3. Acquire knowledge that enhances the ability to make decisions in the process of family assessment and intervention;
  4. To equate the contributions of the Family Assessment and Intervention Models in the development of Family Health Nursing practices;
  5. Provide specific care at different stages of the family life cycle at the primary, secondary and tertiary prevention levels;
  6. Play the role of expert in the health team in Family Health Nursing;
  7. Promote the ability to make ethical decisions;
  8. Stimulate processes of change and innovation in the light of scientific knowledge and research;
